HORIBA India has inaugurated its Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE) Test Bed Facility at the HORIBA India Technical Center (HITC) in Chakan, Pune. The facility, designed to test hydrogen-fuel-based internal combustion engines, has a testing capacity of up to 380 kilowatts and complies with global safety standards.

According to the company’s press release, the facility aims to support India’s commercial vehicle sector and green energy initiatives. It features products such as the Hydrogen Gas Analyzer, Hydrogen Fuel Flow Meter, and Laser Spectroscopic Motor Exhaust Gas Analyzer. The site also includes an Experience Zone for live demonstrations and hands-on interaction with testing technologies.

HORIBA India, established in 2006, operates in three business verticals: Energy & Environment, Bio & Healthcare, and Materials & Semiconductor. The HITC, launched in 2016, spans 10,000 square meters and provides emission measurement systems and other advanced analytical instruments. The company has additional manufacturing facilities in Nagpur and Haridwar.

HORIBA’s global revenue for 2023 was 290,558 million yen, and the company has committed to reducing CO2 emissions by 42% by 2033 as part of its carbon neutrality goals.

The inauguration event included remarks from George Gillespie, Executive Corporate Officer at HORIBA Ltd., and Rajeev Gautam, Corporate Officer at HORIBA Ltd. and President of HORIBA India, emphasizing the company’s focus on sustainability and alignment with India’s green energy transition goals.

HORIBA India reported an average annual growth rate of over 15% and employs approximately 500 people across its operations.
