The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has inaugurated a new maker space named the Dr. Ranbir Singh Tinkerers’ Lab, designed to provide students with access to advanced tools and technology for hands-on innovation and learning.

The facility, funded by the Maker Bhavan Foundation through a donation from Dr. Ranbir Singh, offers round-the-clock access to enable students to work on projects beyond academic hours. It is equipped with resources aimed at supporting students in transforming their ideas into tangible outcomes.

Dr. Ranbir Singh, a philanthropist and IIT alumnus, expressed his hope that the lab would serve as a resourceful space for students to realize their creative potential.

Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, emphasized the lab’s role in fostering practical experience to complement theoretical education.

This initiative reflects IIT Ropar’s commitment to integrating hands-on learning opportunities into its STEM curriculum, equipping students with tools to advance their engineering and innovation skills.
