Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad (IIIT Dharwad) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advanced manufacturing research and skill development.

The partnership will focus on research, internships, and technical education in Digital Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, with applications in aerospace and defence production. HAL officers will have opportunities to pursue higher education at IIIT Dharwad, while students will gain hands-on experience through internships at HAL’s manufacturing divisions. The collaboration will also involve joint workshops, technical paper publications, and faculty exchange programs.

The MoU was signed by G Srikantha Sharma, Executive Director of HAL Management Academy (HMA), and S R Mahadeva Prasanna, Director of IIIT Dharwad, in the presence of HAL Chairman and Managing Director D K Sunil and Executive Director HR M G Balasubrahmanya.

According to a statement issued by HAL, the collaboration aims to advance digital and smart manufacturing practices in the aerospace and defence sectors.
