The Indian Army has inaugurated the Indian Army AI Incubation Centre (IAAIIC) in Bengaluru as part of its efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into military operations. The virtual event was led by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff.
The IAAIIC, developed in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), aims to enhance operational capabilities through AI-driven solutions. BEL is providing the infrastructure and IT support, while the facility will be managed by Army personnel.
The centre is equipped with a 1-petaflop supercomputer from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) to support AI modelling and training. Its primary focus areas include predictive maintenance, enhanced surveillance, decision support systems, and autonomous platforms.
The facility also seeks to foster collaboration among academia, startups, and industry experts to develop indigenous AI solutions tailored to the Army’s requirements. Another goal is to train personnel to build an AI-ready force, reducing reliance on foreign technologies.
The Indian Army stated that this initiative aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen preparedness for modern security challenges and operational efficiency through technology adoption.
