Trelleborg Group, a multi-national engineering company, has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in India, focused on marine systems and infrastructure. The project represents an investment of SEK 75 million, with construction set to commence in 2025 and production expected to begin by late 2026.

The facility will be located near Ahmedabad, where Trelleborg already operates a marine and infrastructure engineering and innovation center. The new site will incorporate efficient production processes, including solar-heated steam generation and advanced water management systems, to minimize environmental impact.

This development aligns with Trelleborg’s broader strategy to expand in industrial segments and regions with growth potential. India has been identified as a key market due to its ongoing infrastructure development, such as new commercial port construction.

Trelleborg has had a presence in India for over 40 years and reported sales of nearly SEK 700 million in the country in 2023. Its operations in India include sealing solutions, automotive components, cable protection for telecoms, and antivibration systems for industrial and transport applications. The company also hosts IT and engineering centers in the country that support its global operations.

According to a press release, this investment aims to strengthen Trelleborg’s market position in India and meet the rising demand for advanced infrastructure solutions.
