Akzo Nobel India Limited has announced that it will explore the potential sale of its powder coatings business and international research center. This move follows a proposal from its parent company, Akzo Nobel NV (ANNV), to transfer these operations to a wholly-owned subsidiary of ANNV.

In addition, the company may consider acquiring the intellectual property for decorative paints currently owned by ANNV. The company disclosed these developments in a regulatory filing on January 6, 2025.

During a board meeting held on the same day, the management was authorized to initiate an exploratory process to assess the feasibility of these transactions. The company emphasized that any final decisions would depend on further evaluation and compliance with applicable legal and procedural requirements.

Akzo Nobel India produces paints and coatings for both industrial and decorative purposes. This potential realignment of its business units reflects a strategic evaluation of its operations. No specific timeline or financial details for the proposed transactions were disclosed.

The announcement aligns with Akzo Nobel NV’s broader strategy to optimize its global operations and intellectual property framework. Further updates will be shared as the process progresses.
