Henkel has launched an Application Engineering Center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and announced plans for an adhesive materials manufacturing plant at its Kurkumbh facility near Pune. These investments aim to enhance Henkel’s local capabilities in the electronics sector.
The Chennai center features five specialized labs focused on adhesive solutions and thermal management materials used in consumer electronics such as smartphones and wearables. It is equipped with advanced dispensing systems, vacuum impregnation technologies, and precision material analysis tools to facilitate product prototyping and validation.
The planned manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh will expand Henkel’s production of high-performance adhesive and coating solutions for the electronics industry. The facility will operate under an Industry 4.0 smart factory system to optimize efficiency and quality.
Wen Zhou, Corporate Vice President Electronics at Henkel Adhesive Technologies, stated that the expansion aligns with the company’s strategy to support customers in India as the country strengthens its electronics manufacturing sector.
