Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Limited, has inaugurated a new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Indore. The plant, spanning 2.5 acres, has an initial production capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 electric light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs) annually, with plans for phased expansion.
The facility includes an in-house skateboard platform to vehicle assembly unit, supporting JEM’s focus on domestic manufacturing. The company aims to scale production in response to market demand.
JEM also announced the launch of its electric light commercial vehicle, JEM TEZ. The vehicle features a certified payload capacity of 1.05 tons, a 190+ km driving range, and an 80 kW peak motor power with 23% gradeability. It supports fast charging via CCS2 chargers, gaining over 100 km of range within an hour. The initial ex-showroom price is ₹10.35 lakh.
The company has outlined plans for a phased rollout of JEM TEZ in key cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. It is also working with partners to expand EV infrastructure, financing solutions, and after-sales support.
Jupiter Electric Mobility has projected a revenue of ₹100 crore in its first year of operations and anticipates year-on-year growth of at least 2x. The company has stated its intention to introduce new vehicle variants in the future.
According to a press release issued by the company, this expansion aligns with its broader strategy to support the domestic EV industry and last-mile logistics sector.
