PennWhite India Private Limited, a subsidiary of UK-based PennWhite Limited, has announced plans to set up a manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu. The plant will focus on producing foam control chemicals to meet demand in India and the wider Asian market.
The company has signed a long-term lease for land and a building where it plans to establish the facility later this year. The plant will be internally funded and will adhere to the same production standards as PennWhite’s operations in the United Kingdom.
PennWhite Limited, which was acquired by Manali Petrochemicals Limited (MPL) in 2022, has been manufacturing defoamer products for 40 years. It serves industries including food and beverage processing, wastewater treatment, oil and gas, coatings, and construction. In February 2024, PennWhite India Private Limited was incorporated to expand the company’s presence in India.
Tobias Tasche, Chief Executive Officer of PennWhite Limited and Director of PennWhite India Private Limited, stated, “Since the acquisition of PennWhite Limited, UK by Manali Petrochemicals Ltd in 2022, we have been working hard on our global growth plans, and in particular our plans for India. Last year we founded PennWhite India Pvt Ltd as our first step in our longer-term plan to invest in the potential of the Indian market.”
He further noted that the company recently acquired a competitor’s defoamer business in India, and the new manufacturing facility represents the next stage of expansion.
PennWhite aims to supply locally produced defoamer products that meet international standards and provide technical support to customers in the region. The company intends to use the new plant as a base for further expansion in the Asia-Pacific market.
PennWhite Limited, headquartered in the UK, manufactures a range of speciality chemicals, including foam control agents under the FoamDoctor® brand. It operates in over 40 countries and is a subsidiary of MPL, an India-based manufacturer of polyols.
