Bartronics India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore-based PTW Group to develop semiconductor manufacturing and training capabilities in India. The agreement aims to address the growing demand in the semiconductor sector, including production, refurbishment of equipment, and workforce training.
According to a company press release, the collaboration plans to establish facilities for semiconductor production and equipment refurbishment, as well as introduce training programs focused on semiconductor manufacturing and processes. This initiative aligns with India’s strategy to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
PTW Group, which operates in over 14 countries, specializes in refurbishing semiconductor equipment and is recognized as an approved vendor by over 700 fabs worldwide, including industry leaders such as TSMC, Samsung, and Micron. The company views India as a potential hub for its global operations in power-semiconductor equipment development, refurbishment, and commissioning.
Torsten Seifried, Managing Director of PTW Group, stated that the partnership with Bartronics will help the company quickly adapt to the Indian market and address emerging opportunities in the region.
Bartronics, a listed company in India, is known for introducing technologies such as barcodes and RFID in the country. This partnership is part of its strategy to expand into the semiconductor sector, which it identifies as a key area of growth.
A consulting firm, TOP2, is advising both companies on the proposed merger and related activities.
