CEAT, an Indian tyre manufacturer, has announced the inclusion of its Chennai plant in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network. The recognition highlights the facility’s adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, following a similar acknowledgment of CEAT’s Halol facility.
According to the company’s press release, the Chennai plant achieved several measurable improvements, including a 31% reduction in operational costs, an 18% decrease in cycle times, and a 47% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions. Additionally, over 80% of the plant’s workforce has been equipped with digital tools to enhance data-driven decision-making and automation.
The WEF Global Lighthouse Network identifies manufacturing facilities that have demonstrated transformative outcomes through technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), robotics, and advanced analytics.
The company stated that the Chennai facility’s improvements also include a 54% enhancement in dispatch turnaround times and a 25% boost in labor productivity, driven by digital transformation efforts.
CEAT’s Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, Jayasankar Kuruppal, commented that the recognition reflects the plant’s advancements in integrating technology with sustainability initiatives.
As a member of the Global Lighthouse Network, CEAT will participate in collaborative opportunities and share best practices with other recognized facilities worldwide.
