Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has announced the delivery of its 200,000th BharatBenz truck manufactured at its Oragadam facility near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The plant serves as the company’s headquarters and includes production, research and development, and testing operations.
Spread over 400 acres (160 hectares), the Oragadam facility produces commercial vehicles under four brands—BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and FUSO—for more than 70 markets across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The site also features a dedicated test track and is integrated into Daimler Truck’s global production network.
Established in 2012, the BharatBenz brand focuses on the Indian commercial vehicle market with a portfolio of trucks ranging from 10 to 55 tons. These vehicles are used in a variety of applications, including local distribution, long-haul transport, and mining. The company also manufactures buses. BharatBenz products are supported through a network of over 375 customer touch points across India.
As of early 2025, DICV operates under the Mercedes-Benz Trucks segment within the Daimler Truck Group, led by Achim Puchert.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles manufactures and markets commercial vehicles for the Indian market. It functions as a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG and is based at its integrated manufacturing and R&D hub in Oragadam.
