Hindustan Zinc Limited, an integrated zinc producer, held a felicitation ceremony to recognize technology startups contributing to the company’s operational advancements. The event, organized ahead of India’s National Startup Day, highlighted the company’s engagement with over 40 startups on 60 projects, alongside collaborations with more than 50 startups for industrial scale-ups.

The company’s partnerships focus on utilizing technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainability initiatives. Specific applications include process optimization, improved metal recovery, and enhanced safety practices.

At the event, Hindustan Zinc acknowledged the contributions of eight startups, including Ripik.AI, Machine Max, Maximl Labs, Flux Auto, Detect Technologies, Jarsh Safety, and others. Ripik.AI, for instance, has implemented AI-driven computer vision tools to monitor smelting processes, aiding cost management and energy efficiency. Jarsh Safety is developing smart cooling helmets to address industrial heat stress and improve worker safety.

The company also announced plans for a startup mentoring program aimed at fostering technological innovation in the manufacturing sector.

Through its corporate accelerator program, Vedanta Spark, Hindustan Zinc has introduced emerging technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, drone technology, and IoT to address challenges in productivity and sustainability.

Hindustan Zinc has also expanded its social initiatives, supporting rural entrepreneurship and women-led micro-enterprises through its Sakhi initiative, which integrates digital tools for product sales and distribution.

Hindustan Zinc Limited, part of the Vedanta Group, holds a significant share of India’s zinc market and is engaged in sustainability efforts, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and maintaining water-positive operations.
