Waaree Group has commenced construction of an alkaline electrolyser manufacturing facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The facility, which broke ground on February 10, will have an initial production capacity of 300 MW in its first phase.
The manufacturing plant is intended to support industries such as steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation by supplying electrolysers for green hydrogen production. The initiative aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to reduce reliance on imported electrolysers.
Anuj Sharma, CEO of Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., stated that the project is a step toward expanding domestic capabilities in green hydrogen production technologies.
The facility will incorporate automated assembly lines for electrolyser stacks and advanced manufacturing processes designed for efficiency and scalability. The electrolysers produced will be intended for large-scale hydrogen generation with a focus on low power consumption and operational flexibility.
Waaree has received approval under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity and for 90,000 metric tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program.
