Hero MotoCorp has temporarily paused production at four of its six manufacturing plants—Dharuhera, Gurugram, Haridwar, and Neemrana—from April 17 to 19, 2025. The company cited short-term supply alignment as the reason for the move, which it described as a planned operational pause.

The Tirupati and Halol plants will continue normal operations during this period. Hero MotoCorp stated that production will resume on April 21, 2025.

In a statement, the company said, “During this planned pause, we are taking the opportunity to carry out maintenance, upkeep, and facility enhancements to further strengthen our operations.”

The company emphasized that the temporary pause will not affect its ability to meet retail demand across domestic and international markets, and any production deferment will be recovered in the following month.

The decision comes amid a broader industry context in which the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) reported a 7% year-on-year decline in total retail auto sales across all segments in February 2025. Two-wheeler sales fell by 6.3% compared to the same month in 2024.

Despite this, rural demand for two-wheelers has shown resilience, growing at an estimated 6% in recent months, compared to 3% growth in urban markets. Hero MotoCorp has historically had a strong presence in rural areas, with models such as the HF Deluxe, Splendor+, and Passion continuing to attract buyers.

Industry analysts view the production pause as a supply chain management decision aimed at maintaining inventory balance rather than reacting to immediate shifts in demand. The current wedding season, traditionally a strong sales period for two-wheelers in India, is expected to support retail performance in the current quarter.
