ZF India Pvt Ltd, a supplier of auto components, has signed an agreement to supply several thousand EcoMid manual and EcoTronic Mid automated manual (AMT) 9-speed transmissions to a commercial vehicle manufacturer in India. The transmissions are intended for trucks with over 300 horsepower. The agreement was signed in March 2025.
The transmissions will be manufactured at ZF’s Chakan plant in Pune. The products are targeted at trucks in the 1300 Nm segment, specifically for applications over 25 tonnes. ZF’s current offerings include 9-speed transmissions with up to 1500 Nm torque and 12-speed transmissions capable of handling up to 3200 Nm.

ZF stated that the EcoMid transmission is suitable for commercial vehicles with gross vehicle weight up to 55 tonnes. The transmission is available in direct drive or overdrive versions with nine gears and is designed to support fuel-efficient driving.
According to ZF, the technology is compatible with various commercial vehicle applications and aims to reduce driver fatigue while improving fuel efficiency and clutch life.
ZF India Pvt Ltd is part of the ZF Group, which supplies systems for commercial vehicles, including solutions in the autonomous, connected, and electric domains. The company manufactures a range of transmission solutions at its Pune facility.
