Schaeffler India, a manufacturer of auto components, has started partial production of e-axles at its Talegaon Plant 1 in Pune, Maharashtra, marking its entry into system-level e-axle manufacturing for battery electric vehicles. The company also completed the first truck dispatch of e-axles from the facility.

The inauguration of the production line was attended by representatives from Tata Motors, including Sudhir Chikhle and other team members. The programme included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a guided tour of the e-axle production line. Schaeffler India will supply the e-axles to Tata Motors.

Schaeffler India, part of the Schaeffler Group, manufactures components and systems for automotive and industrial applications. The company operates five manufacturing facilities across India. They are located in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu; Vadodara, Gujarat; Talegaon, Pune; and Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

Schaeffler India also operates three research and development centres in Pune, Hosur and Vadodara. These centres work with customers to develop solutions tailored to Indian market requirements, and some have been approved by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

Schaeffler India also has a substantial aftermarket presence, providing products and services to both the industrial and automotive sectors. In 2023, the company acquired Koovers, a B2B e-commerce platform, to strengthen its digital automotive aftermarket capabilities.
