Nova Coating, a producer of surface treatment technologies, has announced the establishment of a new surface treatment facility in Pune, India, in partnership with Unitherm Engineers Limited. The facility, located in Chakan, Pune, is scheduled to begin operations on May 16, 2025.
The Pune facility will offer services including Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating, polishing, plasma nitriding, heat treatment, chemical texturing, and laser texturing. A core team at the site completed a three-week training program to align with the company’s operational standards.
PVD coating involves depositing thin, hard coatings on substrates to enhance wear resistance and durability. Plasma nitriding is a surface hardening process that uses ionized gas to improve the hardness and wear resistance of metal components.
Unitherm Nova Coating was established in January 2025 as a joint venture between Unitherm Engineers Limited and Nova Coating. Nova Coating is a Germany-based company specializing in surface treatment technologies such as PVD coatings and plasma processes. It serves various industrial sectors and maintains operations in multiple international locations.
Unitherm Engineers Limited (UEL) is an engineering company specializing in commercial atmospheric heat treatment. It operates facilities in Pune, Bangalore, Bhiwadi, and Chennai, and provides metallurgical services for industrial applications. Its Sealed Quench Furnaces (SQFs), located at Pune, Bangalore, and Bhiwadi, are manufactured by Aichelin-Unitherm Heat Treatment Systems India Pvt. Ltd. The company supplies services to OEMs and Tier-1 firms in India and other markets.
