BEML Limited has been awarded a contract worth INR 2.82 billion by the Ministry of Defence for the supply of High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) configured with an 8×8 all-wheel-drive system. These vehicles are designed to transport troops, artillery, and specialised equipment across challenging terrains.
This order follows a recent contract valued at INR 2.94 billion for 6×6 HMVs for the Indian Army. Both contracts are part of BEML’s defence manufacturing activities with the Ministry of Defence.
The 8×8 HMVs are military transport vehicles intended to improve mobility in difficult environments. The new contract supports BEML’s production and supply capabilities in the defence sector.
BEML Limited is a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the company manufactures heavy earthmoving equipment, rail coaches, defence vehicles, and mining machinery. Recently, BEML signed an agreement with TuTr Hyperloop to collaborate on developing an indigenous hyperloop transportation system.
