BMW Industries Limited has announced plans to set up a greenfield downstream steel processing complex in Bokaro, Jharkhand, with a capital investment of INR 8.03 billion. The facility is being developed under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 1.1 and is expected to enhance the annual capacity of coated steel across four product categories.

The Bokaro plant is expected to produce 300,000 MT of cold-rolled coils and sheets, 320,000 MT of galvanised coils and sheets, 220,000 MT of Galvalume/ZAM coils and sheets, and 200,000 MT of colour-coated coils and sheets each year. The project is a central component of BMW Industries’ long-term strategy to expand its footprint in higher-value steel segments and strengthen its downstream product portfolio.

“FY 2024–25 was shaped by strategic investments, agile execution and robust expansion to meet growing market demand. The INR 803 crore Bokaro Greenfield downstream steel processing complex, supported by the PLI 1.1 scheme, is progressing as planned and will add over half a million tonnes of coated steel capacity annually across four product categories,” said Harsh Bansal and Vivek Bansal, Managing Directors.

The company reported consolidated revenue from operations of INR 62.86 billion in FY 2024–25, up from INR 59.82 billion in the previous fiscal. Profit after tax stood at INR 748.43 million, reflecting year-on-year growth. EBITDA for the year was INR 1.47 billion, with an operating EBITDA margin of 23.4 percent. Net worth increased to INR 7.33 billion, while net debt stood at INR 1.21 billion.

BMW Industries has also invested in increasing its tube manufacturing capacity to 600,000 MT across its Kolkata and Jamshedpur plants, completed Phase 1 of expansion, and launched Phase 2. The company extended its tube manufacturing contract through the first half of FY 2027, expected to generate INR 3.65 billion in revenue.
