Frauscher Sensor Technology India has started building a new manufacturing hub in Mysore, Karnataka, with completion expected by October 2026. The facility will span 155,000 square feet and aims to expand sensor and board production, enhance research and development, and support local employment.

The two-storey hub will include production space on the ground floor and offices, an R&D centre, and two specialised centres on the first floor: the Frauscher Training Centre for external training programmes, and the Frauscher Experience Centre to showcase the company’s technology and solutions. The localised R&D hub is intended to provide product innovation tailored for Indian Railways and to strengthen service capabilities for Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other markets.

“This new facility marks a significant step in our long-term strategy to support India’s evolving rail ecosystem as well as markets beyond. It strengthens our ability to deliver at scale, drive local innovation, and respond faster to market needs. Our mission is clear: put operators in control, enhance network safety and efficiency, and build systems that are ready for the future of the Indian railway network,” said Akhilesh Yadav, Managing Director of Frauscher Sensor Technology India.

Sustainability features planned for the facility include 100 percent wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge via percolation pits, and rooftop solar panels for clean energy generation.

The project complements Frauscher’s existing manufacturing operations in Austria and aims to improve supply chain responsiveness and production capacity to meet growing demand in India and other international markets.

Frauscher marked the start of construction with a traditional groundbreaking ceremony that included a blessing, a symbolic shovel event, and a tree planting. The ceremony, attended by representatives from Indian Railways, industry partners, and regional authorities, emphasised the company’s focus on sustainable growth, local culture, and ongoing collaborations within the rail sector.

Frauscher Sensor Technology provides train detection and wayside object control solutions designed to ensure the operational reliability of critical railway components. Their products combine field elements, software, connectivity, and data access solutions with lifecycle services to help rail operators manage safety, efficiency, and network capacity.
