Jupiter Tatravagonka has placed an order for a turnkey wheel and axle production line from ANDRITZ and its subsidiary Schuler as part of its expansion into the forging business. The new facility, located in Odisha, is expected to be fully operational by 2027 and will focus on manufacturing critical rail components, including wheels and axles for railway wagons.
The order was announced during the inauguration of Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in September. The company aims to strengthen its production capabilities with in-house manufacturing of key components, reducing reliance on external suppliers.
According to Jupiter Wagons Managing Director Vivek Lohia, the investment is intended to address the increasing demand for freight transport, driven by e-commerce growth, industrial expansion, and infrastructure development. The facility will allocate approximately 50 percent of its production capacity to exports.
The integrated forging line, supplied by ANDRITZ and Schuler, is designed to streamline production processes and enhance quality control. ANDRITZ Metals Germany, a manufacturer of forging furnaces, has previously installed several railway forging lines globally.
