Modine, a manufacturer of thermal management products, has opened a 100,000 square foot facility in Chennai, India, to manufacture Airedale by Modine data centre cooling equipment for the Asia-Pacific region. The new site will produce equipment including the AireWall ONE fan wall and is intended to support rising demand from data centre operators in the region.

The facility launch included the unveiling of the first locally manufactured unit, a tree-planting ceremony, and remarks from company leadership. Additional product ranges are planned to be added to the production schedule. The company noted that increased adoption of artificial intelligence applications has contributed to rising demand for its cooling technologies, which include high-efficiency chillers, indoor air systems, liquid cooling technologies, intelligent controls, and building management systems.

“Launching our Chennai facility is a significant milestone in our global growth strategy. The data center market in India and across the region is growing rapidly. Establishing in-region manufacturing strengthens our ability to serve APAC data center customers with speed, precision, and locally tailored solutions,” said Eric McGinnis, President, Climate Solutions at Modine.

“This milestone reflects the dedication of our team and the strength of our local partnerships; achieving 70% local sourcing is a testament to our commitment to regional growth. This plant not only strengthens our manufacturing capabilities but also creates new opportunities for local employment and collaboration,” said R Sathish, Managing Director of Modine India.

Modine, headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin, designs and manufactures thermal management solutions. The company employs more than 11,000 people worldwide and operates through its Climate Solutions and Performance Technologies segments, serving markets in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
