Sarla Aviation plans to establish a 500-acre production facility in Andhra Pradesh to support the development and manufacturing of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The project aims to build an integrated campus for future aircraft systems, with provisions for design, manufacturing, testing, certification and training.

The facility, described as a “Sky Factory,” is planned to scale to an annual capacity of up to 1,000 aircraft as operations expand. The development includes an investment commitment of INR 13 billion over the next ten years, with the site expected to evolve into a comprehensive ecosystem for advanced air mobility.

“We are committed to building this capability step by step and contributing to the growth of advanced air mobility manufacturing in the country,” said Adrian Schmidt, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sarla Aviation.

The partnership outlines a phased roadmap under which engineering, testing and certification infrastructure will be added as the project progresses. The initiative forms part of wider efforts to expand aerospace manufacturing capacity and support the emergence of eVTOL platforms.

Sarla Aviation is engaged in the development of electric and autonomous aircraft systems and associated aerospace technologies.
