Stephenson Gobin Limited, a UK-based manufacturer of electromagnetic clutch, brake and safety solutions, has confirmed that its manufacturing facility in Attibele, Karnataka, is now fully operational, completing the ramp-up phase following its inauguration in August 2025. The site, located near Bengaluru, has entered steady-state operations with all planned production lines, machinery and support functions running.

The Attibele facility spans approximately 20,000 square feet and has been designed for efficient large-batch manufacturing. It is equipped with modern production machinery, fully functioning assembly lines and advanced manufacturing and inspection equipment. The investment strengthens its overall manufacturing capacity while maintaining consistent quality standards across regions.

The facility was developed to replicate the production environment of Stephenson Gobin’s UK manufacturing site. Machinery, tooling and processes at Attibele mirror those used in the United Kingdom, allowing products manufactured in India to meet identical specifications. This approach enables the company to supply customers interchangeably from either location depending on demand and logistics.

The Indian site operates as a full-scale manufacturing hub rather than an assembly-only unit. It includes dedicated assembly lines for different product families, a laser marking cell and an inspection clean room to support precision manufacturing and quality assurance. The facility also houses office and meeting spaces to support engineering, operations and management teams based on site.

Manufacturing at Attibele covers two primary business areas. One is the Geofire safety products division, which produces electromagnetic fire door holders and closers, including Agrippa series devices, along with components for radio-controlled door systems. The facility also manufactures electromagnetic activation products used in smoke control and ventilation systems, such as smoke curtain releasers and roof vent winches. The second area focuses on electromagnetic clutches and brakes for industrial motion control applications, including robotics and medical automation, with an emphasis on high-volume standard catalogue products.

The company said the fully operational status of the plant supports its dual-hub manufacturing strategy. Under this model, the Indian facility is responsible for high-volume, standardised production, while the UK site concentrates on lower-volume, customised engineering work. This allocation is intended to improve supply chain resilience, shorten delivery timelines for customers in the Asia-Pacific region and optimise utilisation across both manufacturing bases.

Stephenson Gobin Limited designs and manufactures electromagnetic clutch, brake and safety systems used in industrial automation, motion control and fire protection applications, supplying customers across Europe, Asia and other international markets.
