STP Machinery India Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Austrian machine manufacturer Starlinger, has commenced operations at its newly built manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, marking the start of local production of polypropylene (PP) tape extrusion lines for the Indian market. The inauguration took place on 2 February 2026.

The new facility represents Starlinger’s expansion of its manufacturing footprint in India and enables the local production of extrusion tape lines designed specifically for Indian customers. By establishing manufacturing operations in Gujarat, the company aims to reduce delivery times, strengthen customer collaboration and provide faster technical support while maintaining Starlinger’s established engineering and quality standards.

STP Machinery India was founded to manufacture machinery for woven plastic packaging applications, including woven sacks, block bottom valve sacks, big bags and technical fabrics. The company employs more than 30 people at the Ahmedabad plant and is led by chief executive officer Norbert Wirth. Production at the site includes high-technology PP tape extrusion lines tailored to local operating conditions and market requirements.

In addition to manufacturing and sales, the company is positioning the Indian operation as a service and support base for installed equipment. “STP Machinery will not only offer spare parts and technical support for its own machines, but also acts as a service hub for Starlinger lines installed in India,” said Harald Neumüller, chief sales officer of Starlinger. “Due to reduced delivery times, flexible processing and short distances we can supply spare parts quickly and thus ensure optimum machine uptimes – and this both for Starlinger and STP Machinery customers.”

Starlinger has operated in India since the 1980s and has maintained long-standing relationships with Indian customers through its local presence. “Starlinger has been active in India since the 1980s and maintains long-standing business relationships with Indian companies,” said Angelika Huemer, chief executive officer and managing partner of Starlinger & Co Gesellschaft m.b.H. “With the opening of STP Machinery in addition to our office in New Delhi, which already exists for 25 years, we can now supply our customers in India directly with state-of-the-art extrusion technology.”

The locally produced TE1600 series PP extrusion lines are designed for the production of tapes for standard woven sacks, AD*STAR block bottom valve sacks, big bags and other PP fabric applications. The lines have a capacity of 600 kilograms per hour at a production speed of 450 metres per minute and are intended to deliver stable and efficient output with simplified operation for plant personnel. The company said initial sales recorded during 2025 in October indicated early market acceptance.

STP Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. is part of the Starlinger Group and focuses on the manufacture, sale and servicing of machinery for woven plastic packaging in India, with an emphasis on local production, service responsiveness and lifecycle support for customers.
