Hirose Electric Co., Ltd., a Japanese manufacturer of precision connectors and electronic components, exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish a manufacturing facility for connectors and electronic components in the state. The project represents the company’s first manufacturing facility in India.
In an official statement, the Government of Tamil Nadu said the project involves an estimated investment of INR 1 billion and is expected to create 100 jobs. The facility will manufacture connectors and electronic components used in electronics and automotive systems.
The investment is expected to support the localisation of components used by original equipment manufacturers and electronics manufacturing services companies operating in the state. The project also contributes to the expansion of electronics and advanced manufacturing activity in Tamil Nadu.
These connectors enable power and data transmission between devices, control units, and electronic modules. They are used across applications including smartphones, consumer electronics, electric vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, and industrial equipment, where they support integration of electronic architectures.
Hirose Electric operates eight manufacturing facilities globally located in Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The Tamil Nadu project would add India to the company’s manufacturing network.
Hirose Electric Co., Ltd. manufactures connectors and electronic components used in consumer electronics, automotive systems, industrial equipment, and communication devices, supporting electrical connectivity and signal transmission across electronic systems.
