Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) signed a memorandum of understanding on 05 March 2026 in Kolkata to collaborate on marine engineering systems for naval and commercial shipbuilding. The agreement covers areas including propulsion systems, steering gear, and integrated platform management systems.

The collaboration aims to strengthen shipbuilding capabilities in marine engineering through joint participation between the two companies. The partnership is intended to combine the respective technical capabilities of both organisations in developing ship propulsion solutions.

The companies said the collaboration will focus on providing indigenous solutions in ship propulsion for naval and commercial vessels. The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of maritime technological capabilities and support long-term operational requirements in the shipbuilding sector.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) is an Indian shipyard under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence that specialises in the design and construction of warships for the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Headquartered in Kolkata, the company builds naval platforms including frigates, corvettes, and patrol vessels.

Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited established to pursue defence and aerospace programmes. The company develops defence technologies across platforms including artillery, protected vehicles, ammunition, air defence, marine systems, and defence electronics.
