Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited approved a capital expenditure of INR 622 million to expand gear production capacity in its driveline business at its board meeting held on 20 March 2026. The investment is intended to support increased output to meet potential customer demand.
The company said in a stock exchange filing that the approved capex for the financial year 2026–27 includes INR 622 million allocated for gear capacity enhancement. The expansion will add 4.1 million gears to the existing capacity of 64.1 million gears.
According to the filing, the company’s current capacity utilisation stands at approximately 80 percent, based on nine-month data for the financial year 2025–26, and may vary depending on customer demand. The proposed capacity addition is expected to be completed by the financial year 2027–28 and will be financed through internal accruals and/or debt.
The company stated that the investment is aimed at enhancing gear production capacity in the ordinary course of business to meet potential customer demand going forward.
In a separate development, the board took note of the resignation of Ajay Pratap Singh from the position of Senior Vice President (Legal), Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, effective from the close of business hours on 15 April 2026. The company has initiated the process to appoint a successor, with interim arrangements made for compliance responsibilities.
The board also approved the appointment of Suman Poddar as Company Secretary and Key Managerial Personnel, and Arjun Singh as Compliance Officer and Key Managerial Personnel, both effective from 16 April 2026.
