Visteon, a manufacturer of auto components, has initiated in-house manufacturing of high-resolution analog and digital cameras, along with display backlight units (BLUs), at its facility in Chennai, India. The company has invested USD 10 million in this new production line, which is designed to support the development of cockpit electronics and driver assistance systems.

The new manufacturing capabilities include the production of automotive cameras ranging from 1.3 MP to 8 MP HD resolution. These cameras are intended for integration with high-definition in-car displays and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), enabling features such as parking and navigation support.

“India plays a critical role in our vertical integration strategy. Localizing production of camera systems and backlight units strengthens our ability to scale, innovate, and deliver next-generation cockpit technologies more efficiently to global markets,” said Sachin Lawande, President and CEO of Visteon.

The localized production is intended to improve operational responsiveness to regional demand and to support the development of high-tech automotive manufacturing in India. The new production complements Visteon’s existing display manufacturing operations in the country.

Visteon Corporation develops and manufactures automotive cockpit electronics including instrument clusters, information displays, infotainment systems, and domain controllers. The company operates in multiple markets and supplies to a range of automotive manufacturers globally.
