Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) received the first set of wing assemblies for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on July 17, 2025, at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The assemblies were manufactured at L&T’s Precision Manufacturing & Systems Complex (PMSC) and formally handed over to M Abdul Salam, General Manager of HAL’s LCA Tejas Division.

According to L&T, the company plans to initially supply four wing sets annually, with the objective of scaling up to 12 sets per year by adopting advanced assembly techniques and automation. “L&T is set to supply four wing sets annually, with plans to scale up production to 12 sets per annum through advanced assembly processes and automation,” said Arun Ramchandani, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Precision Engineering & Systems.

HAL’s Chairman and Managing Director, DK Sunil, stated that the company is working with a wide spectrum of suppliers, ranging from large corporations to small and medium enterprises. “HAL has effectively built a parallel aircraft structural assembly line in the private sector, which will help in capacity augmentation of the LCA Tejas program,” he said.

The LCA Tejas Division has so far received structural components from various suppliers: air intake assemblies from Lakshmi Machine Works, rear fuselage assembly from Alpha Tocol, loom assemblies from Amphenol, fin and rudder assemblies from Tata Advanced Systems, centre fuselage assembly from VEM Technologies, and wing assemblies from L&T.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is a state-owned aerospace and defence company engaged in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of aircraft, helicopters, engines, and related systems. Its LCA Tejas Division oversees production of the Light Combat Aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
