Varya Tech, a supplier of marine equipment and services, has secured a contract to supply ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) from Techcross Inc., South Korea, for eight 6,300 DWT multi-purpose general cargo vessels under construction at Udupi Cochin Shipyard Ltd. in Malpe, Karnataka. The vessels are being built for Norwegian ship owner Wilson ASA, based on a design by Conoship International, Netherlands. Equipment deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
The systems to be supplied are based on the Electro-Cleen System (ECS), a BWTS developed by Techcross that uses filter-less direct electrolysis technology. According to the company, this approach enables smaller equipment size, simplified installation, and reduced operational expenditure.
Wilson ASA operates a fleet of approximately 130 vessels with capacities ranging from 1,500 to 8,500 DWT.
Varya Tech is the Indian partner of Techcross and has previously supported retrofit installations of BWTS for various Indian shipowners and ship management companies. These projects involved systems with ballasting and de-ballasting capacities ranging from 150 m³/hr to 3,500 m³/hr. The company’s engineers are trained at Techcross facilities in South Korea to manage installation and commissioning in India.
Based in India, Varya Tech supplies marine equipment and services with a focus on ballast water treatment systems and technical support. It collaborates with international OEMs, including Techcross, to serve the maritime sector.
