GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and GR Promoter Group, has inaugurated its first 1 MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser at its manufacturing facility in Jhajjar, Haryana. The electrolyser will support hydrogen production for India’s first hydrogen-powered train under Indian Railways’ “Hydrogen for Heritage” initiative.
The electrolyser, to be installed at the hydrogen production and refueling station in Jind, Haryana, will operate continuously, producing approximately 430 kg of hydrogen per day. The hydrogen will be delivered at a pressure of 40 bar (g) and will meet ISO 14687 standards, which are required for fuel cell applications. In addition to the electrolyser, the Jind station will include a 3,000 kg hydrogen storage unit, a hydrogen compressor, and two hydrogen dispensers equipped with pre-cooler integration to facilitate efficient refueling.
Dhiman Roy, CEO and Director of GreenH Electrolysis, noted that the electrolyser is a significant step in the company’s expansion and reflects its commitment to contributing to India’s green hydrogen objectives.
This project comes amid growing policy support from the Indian government for the green hydrogen sector, which is seen as a critical component in reducing carbon emissions in industries that are difficult to decarbonize.
