Yokohama India has started manufacturing 20-inch tires at its facility in Bahadurgarh, Haryana. The expansion is aimed at meeting the increasing demand for larger tires, driven by the growing SUV and premium vehicle segment.

The company has introduced the Geolandar X-CV (G057), a tire designed for luxury SUVs, featuring an asymmetric tread pattern, advanced silica compounds, and a reinforced 2-ply sidewall. The tire is available through Yokohama India’s network of over 3,000 retail partners.

This development follows the company’s recent localization of 19-inch tire production. Yokohama India has stated that it is expanding its manufacturing capabilities to produce tires up to 24 inches to address market trends.

Gaurav Mahajan, Head of Marketing at Yokohama India, said that improvements in road infrastructure and vehicle advancements have led to a shift toward larger tires, which contribute to handling and safety.

Yokohama India, a subsidiary of The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., has been operating in India since 2007 and established its first manufacturing plant in 2014.
