Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has begun construction of a new motorcycle manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The facility is expected to start operations in 2027 with an annual production capacity of 750,000 units.
The plant will be built on an area of approximately 0.4 million square metres (100 acres) with a total investment of around 11.74 billion Rupees (approximately 19.7 billion Yen). The foundation stone laying ceremony was held on May 20 at the site and was attended by state officials, Kyoko Hokugo from the Embassy of Japan in India, and Suzuki executives including Kenichi Umeda and Takashi Ise.
SMIPL has produced approximately 9 million motorcycles in India since commencing operations in 2006. The company supplies both the domestic market and export destinations such as Latin America, Japan, and Europe.
