Chinese electronics company Hisense Group is set to acquire a 15-26% stake in a new manufacturing plant being developed by Epack in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The facility, focusing on the production of air conditioners and washing machines, represents an initial investment of ₹250 crore in its first phase, according to a report by PTI.

The exact shareholding by Hisense will depend on compliance with Indian government regulations concerning foreign direct investment from China. Steven Li, Managing Director of Hisense India, confirmed the plans and noted the company’s interest in deeper engagement with the Indian market, subject to regulatory approval.

Epack Manufacturing Technologies, a special purpose vehicle, will oversee operations at the plant, which is expected to begin mass production in October 2025. Hisense plans to utilize this facility for both domestic supply and export to markets in Southeast Asia and Mexico.

In addition to the manufacturing initiative, Hisense announced plans to introduce washing machines to its Indian product lineup and expand its offline distribution network. The company aims to establish a network of 1,500-2,000 dealers in eastern India before broadening its presence to southern and northern regions. Hisense has also outlined a target to double its revenue in India to $200 million by 2027.

Further developments include the launch of a 120-inch laser TV and a new range of air conditioners for the upcoming summer season.
