Gabriel India has announced the acquisition of assets from Marelli Motherson Auto Suspension Parts Pvt Ltd for a total consideration of Rs 60 crore, subject to closing adjustments. The acquisition increases Gabriel India’s annual manufacturing capacity by 3.2 million shock absorbers and 1 million gas spring units, according to a statement issued by the company.
Marelli Motherson Auto Suspension Parts Pvt Ltd (MMAS), based in Pune, is a joint venture between Marelli Europe S.p.A. and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. Gabriel India stated that the acquisition includes entering into a license agreement and a technical assistance agreement with Marelli Suspension Systems Italy S.p.A., enabling it to enhance its suspension technology offerings to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Gabriel India specializes in the production of passive shock absorbers, semi-corner modules, and gas springs for passenger and commercial vehicles. The company noted that this acquisition aligns with its strategy to expand its product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities.
Executive Chairperson Anjali Singh remarked that the transaction integrates advanced suspension technologies from MMAS and broadens Gabriel India’s market presence.
The transaction is expected to contribute to Gabriel India’s capacity and technological edge in the suspension business.
