Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company have announced plans to explore a partnership aimed at developing electric three-wheelers and micro four-wheelers for the Indian market. The announcement was made at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, where Hyundai also showcased concept models of these vehicles.

According to the press release, the collaboration seeks to address the growing demand for sustainable last-mile mobility solutions in India. Hyundai intends to contribute its design, engineering, and technological expertise to the project, while TVS will focus on manufacturing and marketing the vehicles.

Hyundai’s concept for the electric three-wheeler reimagines the traditional motor rickshaw with enhanced features like an adjustable height to navigate waterlogged streets, a flat floor for ergonomic seating, and a foldable seat to accommodate wheelchair users. The micro four-wheeler, while still under review, is being explored for its potential in both local and global markets.

The electric three-wheeler includes safety features such as an angled windshield for better visibility, large tires for smoother rides on uneven terrain, and towing hooks for recovery from potholes. The company is also considering water-resistant interiors and heat-reducing materials to suit India’s climate.

Hyundai and TVS emphasized that this partnership is still under evaluation, and no binding agreements have been made. The companies aim to integrate these concepts into India’s urban mobility framework and potentially expand to international markets if successful.

Further updates on the development and potential production timelines are expected as the companies assess the feasibility of these innovative mobility solutions.
