JSW Defence has announced plans to invest ₹800 crore in establishing a manufacturing facility for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in Telangana. The project will be executed through its subsidiary, JSW UAV, in partnership with US-based Shield AI, Inc.
The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, with Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy and JSW Group representative Parth Jindal present.
The facility will focus on the production of Shield AI’s “V-BAT,” a Group 3 UAS, as part of a technology partnership aimed at enhancing domestic defence manufacturing capabilities.
JSW Defence is part of the JSW Group, a conglomerate with interests in multiple industries, including energy, infrastructure, and cement. Telangana, which has been positioning itself as a hub for manufacturing and innovation in various sectors, continues to attract significant investments.
This initiative is expected to contribute to the development of India’s defence technology ecosystem.
