ZF Group has announced plans to establish a new facility at its Coimbatore campus in Tamil Nadu, focusing on manufacturing components for the construction equipment sector, according to a report by The Hindu Business Line. The facility is scheduled to open by June 2025, as revealed by Akash Passey, President of ZF Group India, at the Bharat Mobility Expo in New Delhi.
The company has not disclosed specific investment figures or detailed expansion plans for this new venture. According to Passey, the initiative is part of ZF’s strategy to diversify its offerings in India and tap into the anticipated growth in the construction equipment sector over the next five years.
Separately, ZF is investing €50 million to expand its wind gearbox production capacity at the same campus. The expansion will increase production from 9 GW to 12 GW and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
In 2024, ZF Group India’s revenue exceeded ₹10,000 crore, although final figures are pending. Passey noted that the company expects flat growth in 2025, attributing the forecast to global challenges, including a slowdown in the European automotive market and competition from lower-priced alternatives.
At the Bharat Mobility Expo, ZF showcased several technologies, including its Easy Turn Axle Concept, which enables wheel turn angles of up to 80 degrees. This technology is designed to improve the maneuverability of small commercial vehicles, particularly in confined urban spaces.
