Yield Engineering Systems (YES), a manufacturer of process equipment for semiconductor solutions in AI and high-performance computing (HPC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu. The agreement outlines plans for YES to establish a manufacturing and new product development facility in Coimbatore, India.
The project involves an investment of INR 150 crore over the next 10 years. YES aims to create around 300 direct jobs, with 200 positions expected to be filled within the first five years. The company also projects the generation of approximately 1,200 indirect jobs through its suppliers and contract manufacturers.
Under the terms of the MoU, the Government of Tamil Nadu will provide infrastructural and regulatory support for the project. This initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to develop its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
“This facility brings us closer to our customers, provides scalable manufacturing and engineering infrastructure, as well as allows us to participate in the growth of semiconductor ecosystem in India. This effort aligns to Government of Tamil Nadu’s vision to develop Coimbatore into a semiconductor capital equipment global capability center. Tamil Nadu offers an excellent business climate, a well-regarded education system and a great talent pool that will benefit YES as well as the wider semiconductor ecosystem,” said Rama Alapati, CEO and Chairman of YES.
The Tamil Nadu government has expressed its intent to expand its presence in the electronics and semiconductor sectors, viewing YES’s investment as a step toward building a semiconductor ecosystem in Coimbatore.
