Epiroc, a global equipment provider for the mining and construction industries, has announced the expansion of its manufacturing facility for rock drilling tools in Hyderabad, India. The expansion will include additional land, new buildings, and advanced machinery, with production in the expanded area expected to start in April 2025. The project is expected to add approximately 30 jobs.
The Hyderabad facility currently manufactures rotary bits and down-the-hole products. The plant’s capacity was previously doubled in 2017, and this latest expansion is intended to support the growing demand in the Indian market. Epiroc’s investment aligns with the company’s strategy to position India as a hub for manufacturing and research and development (R&D) within the region.
In conjunction with the manufacturing expansion, Epiroc also inaugurated a new satellite innovation and technology center in Hyderabad. This facility will work in coordination with the company’s existing center in Bangalore, focusing on accelerating product development and meeting customer needs in the region.
Epiroc has been active in India for over 60 years and operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Nashik, along with a technology center in Bangalore. The company employs approximately 1,600 people in India and maintains a sales and marketing presence across the country. The recent investments reflect Epiroc’s ongoing commitment to the Indian market and the government’s “Make in India” initiative, which promotes local manufacturing.
