Epiroc has inaugurated an expanded manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, focused on the production of rock drilling and reinforcement tools. The expansion adds 5,280 square meters of space to the existing site and is expected to begin production next month.

The new facility will manufacture rotary and down-the-hole (DTH) drilling tools, as well as rock reinforcement products used to improve mine safety. The expansion is expected to generate approximately 35 new jobs, increasing the local workforce at the Hyderabad site to about 335 employees. Epiroc previously doubled the facility’s capacity in 2017.

According to the company’s press release, India accounted for around 3% of Epiroc Group’s revenues in 2024. The company currently employs approximately 1,600 people in India, including a significant number in research and development roles.

“This expanded production capacity in India of high-quality rock reinforcement and rock drilling tools strengthens our long-term commitment to the important and growing Indian market as well as to our customers across the globe,” said Helena Hedblom, President and CEO of Epiroc.

The site expansion follows a ground-breaking ceremony held in September 2024. On the same day, Epiroc also inaugurated a new innovation and technology center in Hyderabad.

“By investing in local manufacturing and increasing our capacity we support our customers’ growth while contributing to sustainable productivity and innovation in the mining sector,” said Arunkumar Govindarajan, President Epiroc India.

Epiroc is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and reported revenues of approximately SEK 64 billion in 2024.
