Modine, a thermal management technology company, has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, by mid-2025. The facility will produce advanced cooling technologies under the Airedale by Modine brand, targeting the operational demands of data centers and stationary power generation equipment.
The Chennai plant will be the first Airedale by Modine manufacturing site in India and follows recent expansions in Calgary, Canada, and Bradford, UK. The move is intended to meet the growing demand for data center cooling solutions, particularly in regions experiencing significant investment in digital infrastructure.
“By increasing capacity and establishing production facilities in India, we are in a strong position to provide a range of highly engineered enabling technologies to the data center industry,” said Neil D. Brinker, President and CEO of Modine.
India has seen a surge in data center investments, driven by economic growth, a skilled labor pool, and enhanced connectivity with Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Hyperscale and colocation companies operating in India require advanced cooling technologies to support their facilities.
Art Laszlo, Group Vice President, Global Data Centers, stated that the expansion is part of Modine’s strategy to meet customer demand in India, Asia, and the Middle East. The company invests significantly in research and development to design cooling technologies tailored to regional and operational needs.
The new facility highlights Modine’s broader efforts to expand its presence in key markets and provide localized solutions to meet the growing requirements of data center operations.
