Tripathi Aerotech & Weapons Systems Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Sunita Tools Limited, has been awarded a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the production and supply of 100,000 units of 155mm M107 empty artillery shells annually. The LOI, issued by a defense products supplier, stipulates the completion of the supply within one year after trial samples are approved.

According to the press release issued by Sunita Tools Limited, the subsidiary has eight months to establish the infrastructure necessary for large-scale production. However, initial samples and smaller batches will be supplied from the existing factory setup during this period.

Tripathi Aerotech & Weapons Systems Pvt Ltd, formerly known as Shigna Industrial Corporation, was recently acquired by Sunita Tools Limited as part of its strategic initiative to expand its aerospace and defense manufacturing capabilities. The acquisition has enabled the company to meet the financial and technical requirements necessary for securing the LOI.

The project aligns with Sunita Tools Limited’s efforts to diversify its operations into defense manufacturing. The company, established in 1986, has a history of expertise in engineering and precision CNC machining, serving sectors such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, and consumer goods.

The order comes at a time of growing demand for artillery shells in India and globally, driven by increased stockpile requirements in light of evolving geopolitical dynamics. Sunita Tools Limited plans to complete the project setup and commence monthly deliveries as soon as possible.
