Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), a subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with U.S.-based AM General at the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The agreement involves the supply of advanced artillery cannons manufactured in India to the United States. This marks the first instance of an Indian defence manufacturer exporting such equipment to the U.S.

In a related development at IDEX 2025, KSSL unveiled the Multi-terrain Artillery Gun (MArG) 45, a 155mm/45 caliber mounted gun system. The MArG 45 is mounted on a 4×4 high mobility vehicle and has a firing range exceeding 36 kilometers with conventional ammunition. The system weighs 23.5 tons, carries 18 rounds onboard, and is compatible with NATO-standard ammunition. It is designed for rapid deployment, with a setup time of 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night.

The LOI with AM General builds upon KSSL’s previous collaborations aimed at co-developing artillery solutions, including mounted, towed, and ultra-light gun systems in 105mm and 155mm calibers. Specific details regarding the number of units, delivery schedules, or financial terms of the current agreement have not been disclosed.
