Azad Engineering has inaugurated an exclusive lean manufacturing facility for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) at Tunikibollaram, Hyderabad. The new facility marks an expansion of Azad Engineering’s long-term partnership with MHI, which began in 2012. It follows the signing of a Long-Term Contract & Price Agreement (LTCPA) between Azad and MHI on November 3, 2024. Currently employing 200 skilled professionals, the facility is expected to add several hundred more in the future. It integrates with Azad’s Centre for Excellence and Innovation and features advanced technology for high-precision component manufacturing.

“Azad supplies crucial products essential for the manufacturing of MHI’s gas and steam turbines,” said Masahito Kataoka, Sr. Vice President, GTCC Business Division, Energy System, MHI, Japan.

“The inauguration of this exclusive facility marks a new chapter in our decade-long partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Our unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and precision engineering has led to this significant milestone, further strengthening India’s position in global manufacturing. This plant is the first of many dedicated facilities we are building to meet the growing demand of our global OEM partners and will employ over 2000 highly skilled and trained manpower overall when all our dedicated facilities are operational in this AZAD COE and Innovation center,” said Rakesh Chopdar, Chairman and CEO of Azad Engineering.

During the inauguration, MHI awarded Azad Engineering the “Partner of the Year 2024” recognition, selecting it from a global network of over 1,000 partners. The award acknowledges Azad’s contributions to MHI’s supply chain in terms of quality and delivery performance.
