Andritz Metals has secured a contract from ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) to supply an Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP) at the company’s Khopoli facility in Raigad, Maharashtra. The plant will utilize Andritz Ruthner Spray Roaster Technology, which is designed to recover hydrochloric acid from pickling processes in steel manufacturing.

The ARP is intended to support AM/NS India’s efforts to enhance resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact at its Khopoli site. This initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy to increase the use of recycled materials in steel production.

AM/NS India is a 60:40 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. The company operates a steel plant in Hazira, Gujarat, with a production capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum. Plans are underway to expand this capacity to 15 million tonnes per annum, with a long-term goal of reaching 30 million tonnes per annum over the next decade.

Andritz Metals, a division of the international technology group Andritz, provides plants, equipment, and services for the metalworking and steel industries, including solutions for acid regeneration, strip processing, and furnace technologies.
