Chicago-based semiconductor company TagoreTech is set to begin operations at its upcoming radio frequency (RF) laboratory in Kolkata’s Sector V within the next two to three months, according to a Times of India report. The facility, spanning approximately 1,000 square feet, represents an initial investment of over USD 500,000, with total planned investment in the region amounting to around INR 100 million.
The RF lab is being established within a rented facility and is expected to support product development efforts in areas such as 5G infrastructure, radar systems, and aerospace applications. TagoreTech is also evaluating a partial shift of its product development activities to the new location once the lab is operational.
Paul Hart, president and CEO of TagoreTech, stated, “We are focusing on the radio frequency market, 5G cellular infrastructure, radar applications and aerospace. We are eyeing Kolkata to be the growth turf for our global business.”
In addition to the lab, the company plans to set up a centre to host customers and support business operations in Asia. Hart also noted that the company is developing new products at the Kolkata facility, including third-generation switch technology, low noise amplifiers, and power amplifiers. TagoreTech is exploring partnerships with local educational institutions to support research and development.
