The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has inaugurated a new engine test bed facility with a capacity of 800 kW. The facility is intended to support the development and certification of higher power internal combustion engines, particularly for heavy-duty applications falling under emission regulations.

According to ARAI, the facility will be used to evaluate engines across a broad range of applications and aligns with regulatory requirements for emission compliance. The new test bed is designed to enhance ARAI’s infrastructure for certifying heavy-duty IC engines.

ARAI’s Pune facilities include a variety of laboratories and test centers for automotive research, development, and testing. These include the Vehicle Evaluation Laboratory, the Knowledge Center, the Centre of Excellence for e-Mobility, the Fatigue & Materials Centre of Excellence, the Centre of Excellence Powertrain, and the Transmission & Gear Test Centre.

The new engine test bed facility was inaugurated by Reji Mathai, Director of ARAI, along with Yogesh Aghav, Vice President of Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited, and Sukrut Thipse, Senior Deputy Director of ARAI.

ARAI is an automotive R&D organization based in Pune that provides testing, certification, and research services for the automotive and allied industries in India.
